China-Africa fisheries cooperation bears fruitful results

Over years China has constantly deepened cooperation with Africa in pelagic fisheries, generating mutual benefits and win-win outcomes. At present, nearly 20 countries in Africa have developed partnership with China, involving over 500 fishing vessels with an annual output of about 300,000 tons.

China-Africa fisheries cooperation has not only diversified aquatic products at China's domestic markets, intensified friendly people-to-people exchanges, but also promoted the economic and social development in Africa significantly.

For the next step, the Chinese government will continue to boost bilateral fisheries cooperation with Africa on the principle of mutual benefits and win-win cooperation. China would like to make joint efforts with Africa in fishery recourse conservation and rational use of marine fishery resources, building an illegal-fishing information sharing system, and combating illegal fishing effectively. All the efforts aim to facilitate the implementation of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road Strategy, protect the marine environment, and advocate the economic and social development as well as people's wellbeing in Africa.
